BACKGROUND

Founded in 1958, the client is a privately-held company that has built a worldwide reputation for ethics and integrity in its dealings with customers, suppliers and employees, and for taking a long-term view when assessing business situations. The focus of this engagement was on the client’s journey to the SAP transformation program as part of a larger enterprise-wide digital transformation journey. This engagement provided the client with consultation and oversight of the delivery of the technical delivery workstreams and solutions to support the overall S/4HANA Implementation.

GOALS

  • Oversight of technical teams spanning multiple IT services – release management, reporting & analytics, data, infrastructure & operations, security & compliance, software quality assurance & development
  • Provide guidance and recommendation for overall integration strategy based primarily on SAP technologies as well as other technologies as outlined by IT Global Process Owners & Solution Architects
  • Manage deployment plan, including development plan & schedule for the delivery workstream in alignment with overall program expectations, timing, and milestones

ACCOMPLISHMENT & BENEFIT

  • Facilitated and managed creation of overall delivery project plan with key milestones and resourcing which was eventually migrated into the project tool of choice, Azure DevOps. This was a quick win to allow tracking of delivery workstream activities in lieu of the overall S/4HANA program plan not being completed
  • Created Delivery Team Ways of Working weekly stand-ups with the primary objectives being team collaboration, reviewing day to day operations, accomplishments/upcoming deliverables, anticipated challenges/roadblocks, and any special topics to facilitate learning for newly appointed team members
  • Facilitated and managed workstream preparations for Business Integration Workshops (BIW) and Global Design Validation Workshops (GDV). Example being SSO (Single Sign On) deployment for ~150 users during GDV
  • Provided recommendations for workstream strategies in Reporting & Analytics and Data.  The strategies were presented and approved by the Design Advisory Board (DAB) in order for activities to continue to progress for each workstream
  • Facilitated and provided recommendations for Key Design Decisions (KDD) for each workstream to enable forward progress for Identity and Access Management, End User Provisioning through Sailpoint, and HANA Feature Pack Upgrades,. (For future KDD tracking, identified mechanism for capturing and tracking potential technical items that may require a decision from the DAB to move forward.)
  • Provided recommendations for Global Business Process Owner (GPO) competencies and learning goals. These were newly created roles for the client
