Ashley Grier – Professional Golfer & PPT’s First Sponsored Athlete
As a young girl growing up in Maryland, winning against the boys is what lit Ashley Grier’s fire for competitive golf. After playing on the all-boys golf team for her high school and then playing collegiate golf, Ashley started making a name for herself in the PGA.
Ashley made history in 2017 when she became the first female PGA pro in the 95-year history of the Philadelphia section to win a points event. In 2018, she competed in the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship and was one of two women who qualified for the 2019 National Club Professional Championship in a field of 300 men. In 2019, Grier competed in the Women’s PGA Championship and was only the female competing at the Philadelphia Open at Huntingdon Valley. Most impressively, Ashley played for Team USA in October of 2019, winning the first ever Women’s PGA Cup event, a global competition held in Austin, Texas.
Ashley is equally successful off the golf course. She was honored by the Philadelphia PGA section as the recipient of the 2018 Assistant Golf Professional of the Year for her work in coaching members and supporting the golf club. She has spoken on panel discussions alongside women business leaders on the topic of competing in a male dominated industry. Most recently, Ashley was accepted into the PGA Lead Program which is the association’s leadership development program designed to identify, mentor and progress PGA Professionals from diverse backgrounds into volunteer leadership roles.
